Pregnancy #3 The Thrid Trimester

Here I am at 30 weeks along... Did I mention that I don't like having my picture made...I know one day these will be priceless to me.
So here we are in the final leg of this pregnancy. Here are a few more questions...

1) Have you picked out a name?

Yes, I will have another post on that later...We could use your help on the spelling!

2)How much weight have you gained?

Really? I guess I want to ask this of other pregnant women too. My favorite response was from one of my dear friends who said after 40 pounds she stopped counting, and just let everyone know that it was over 40 pounds...
So, over 40 pounds...What can I say I grow them big and healthy! Speaking of big...I am measuring exactly where I'm suppose to...go figure??

3) When is your due date?

September 26...the day before Hudson's birthday. I won't complain if she comes a little early.

4) How are you other kids handling it?

They are very excited. Hudson is glad that he doesn't have to share his toys, and I think he will look forward to playing with his new sister after school. Naomi is so excited! She hugs my belly and tells me she wants to help feed and dress the baby. She will do everything, but change poopy diapers, or so she says.

5)What are you looking forward to most?

Honestly, not being pregnant! And of course seeing our new baby girl and what she will look and act like.

6) How has this pregnancy been different?

Almost everything has been more difficult. Some of the things I've experienced with this one that I didn't with the other ones are...
  • Restless Legs at night
  • Sleepless nights
  • numb arms
  • difficulty breathing
  • dizziness
  • weird places on my eye/vision problems

I guess I should name some positives too...

  • Having two kids that understand what is going on and are excited about their new sister.
  • Knowing how sweet it is to hold a newborn.
  • Looking forward to caring for her, and teaching my little mommy to care for her sister.
  • Knowing that Naomi will have a sister...really that means the world to me!

7) What do you have left to do before the baby comes?

I have to finish putting together the girls room. Okay, so I need to start this project, but none the less, I would prefer it be done before she's born.

  • Get Hudson situated in school (that will be another post)
  • Paint the front of the house. (okay, so I may not get to this one)
  • Purchase a few baby items...thankfully we saved everything...and I mean everything!

I will leave you with a few things you should not say to or about a pregnant woman!

  1. "That's a big baby."
  2. "She's not fat, she's pregnant."
  3. "Are you sure there aren't two in there?"
  4. "Wow, 10 weeks. Do you think your going to make it?"

If for some reason, I didn't answer a question you wanted to know about then feel free to leave me a comment and I will add that to one of my later posts...I still have 9 weeks you know!

Pregnancy #3 The Second Trimester

Sorry, I know you've seen this picture, but this is really all I have...
Here I am at 4 months pregnant...

This photo was taken at 5 months pregnant... Did I mention that I'm not real fond of having my picture taken.

So anyway, the second trimester...

Well after about 16 weeks I was finally feeling better! Being so sick really made it hard on me to get up and get going again. It took a while to get back into a routine...okay so I'm still working on getting back into a routine. Here are some things I experienced during the second trimester...

  • you can get dizzy, black out, and even pass out and still be considered normal

  • people will look at your belly, but are still afraid to ask if you are pregnant(I think this is a good thing)

  • We found out that we were having a girl! (and yes, I was surprised, again)

  • I celebrated 31 years of life (see 5 month pic above)

  • I began resuming some of my normal activities...cleaning, cooking, bread making...

  • Davin took a second job with Roswell Street Baptist Church. Good thing I was feeling better!
  • Feeling the baby kick and move around...That is something we all look forward to!

My new craving for this trimester is jalapenos. Yes, I was afraid to try them at first, but really enjoyed them and to my surprise they weren't hot at all!
And yes, McDonald's, your mayo still calls my name...

Pregnancy #3 The First Trimester

So I thought I would break down this pregnancy into three different posts. One for each trimester. There aren't any pictures with this one...they will come. So keep checking back!

I'll post all the details by answering commonly asked questions...

1) Were you trying to get pregnant?

No. In fact we were completely surprised.

2) How did you find out you were pregnant?

I went in to see my doctor. I was having a few issues I needed checked out. During the visit I was in a lot of pain, so she sent me for an ultrasound. During the ultrasound they saw something on one of my ovaries. They wanted to rule out an ectopic pregnancy so the next day they sent me for some blood work. SURPRISE! I'm pregnant. I was completely shocked. After two rounds of blood work and three ultrasounds they discovered that I had a normal pregnancy on my hands. (or in my uterus)

3) Did you have morning sickness?

NO, I had all day can't get out of bed sickness! I was soooo sick. This pregnancy has been the worst of all three. I was so sick that all I could do was rest in the bed. I would get up and feed the kids and then go lay back down. Davin had to take care of all my normal duties like cleaning, cooking, bathing the kids, and putting the kids to bed. It got so bad that at one point we considered day care until I could get up and get going again. We were greatly blessed by our Sunday School class. They brought us meals and even came and cleaned the house and washed our clothes....You know it's bad when you are willing to let someone clean your dirty clothes. What a blessing. I think everyone needs to be involved in a great Sunday School class. Praise the Lord for the body of believers!

4) What foods could you eat? What made you sick?

At first I had a hard time eating anything. I had really bad indigestion so only bland food for a little while. And McDonald's mayo...I know that is really gross for some of you, sorry. Not sure what they are putting in that stuff, but it is good!
Coffee has been something that has made me nauseous with all my pregnancies. I made Davin brew his coffee in the garage for the first couple of months. Now I am back to having a small cup in the mornings with lots of cream and sugar...I mean a lot of cream and sugar!

No pictures for this post. Somehow I managed not to have a photo taken of me laying in the bed with out make-up on looking all gamey...trust me, you didn't want to see that anyway!

Stay tuned for the Second Trimester and belly pictures...

One of those days...

So, we all have those days... You know, the one where you have so much to do on top of being tired and having two small children that for some reason refuse to play nicely together or by themselves.

Well yesterday was my day. I'm not sleeping well these days and on top of carrying around...ah hum... a few extra pounds, I was worn out. I was also determined to get some of Hudson's old clothes on Ebay to sell. I was also tired of feeling like I was raising two couch potatoes. So I decided that we would turn off the TV and all go downstairs (which is basically a HUGE playroom for the kids). Also I would open up the back door, let the kids play and then I could get some much needed work done...Sounds like a good plan, right?

Well, no one wanted to play outside unless I was right there with them. No one wanted to be nice. And instead of playing they wanted to spill drinks all over the house and smash popcorn into the carpet. I was on the brink of a total melt-down...

So I decided I would take the kids to McDonald's (the one with an indoor playground) and I was going to let them run and climb and play until they were completely worn out. Sure enough after about an hour of playing and once all the other children left they came to me and asked if it was time to go home!

It did help some. I was at least able to take a nap when we got home.... Never thought I would say this, but thank you McDonald's for your air conditioned playground!

Naomi

Our 'delightful and pleasant'!
I have to say that Naomi has really lived up to her name! She has a huge heart and is extremely selfless especially for a 3 (almost) 4 year old little girl. She loves to paint, put on make-up, and help mommy with cooking or laundry. She is very cautious and healthy. She asks me about food all the time and if it is a 'helfy' choice.
Here she is at the lake. The kids had a blast there on the 4th of July.

She loves little tiny things and toys. She is actually very smart and quite the artist. She will begin dance classes this fall. I'm hoping that will help ease the transition with brother going to school. She really adores her big brother and loves to be involved in whatever he is doing. They really do get along well. She is very excited about her baby sister and hugs my belly all the time. I have a feeling she is going to be a HUGE help when the baby comes!
Funny things she has said lately...
We were at Roswell Street on a Wednesday night, and because the youth meet on the third floor I take the elevator. So, one night as we were heading to the elevator she looked at me and said, "Women with pregnancy take the elevator." Isn't she smart!
We love our Naomi!

Hudson

My future Kindergartner!
In this photo he created a straw game that he and Naomi were playing. Davin and I decided not to participate because we weren't sure who all had been using that straw. Well, I can't believe that Hudson is almost 6 years old! He will be starting school in less than a month...more on that to come. He has really come a long way this last year and is turning into a mature young man. Here he is all dressed up, and ready for a fire or medical emergency.

Right now Hudson loves playmobil. He enjoys arranging the men and setting up scenes. He also loves God's word. He really knows his Bible stories and characters. We are so proud of him.
We have taken him to several doctors appointments this summer. He needed to have his eyes checked and we thought that he would need glasses. Turns out he is fine. We also took him to a pediatric urologist for reoccuring Urinary Tract infections. Again, there is nothing major wrong. We just have to make a few at-home adjustments. We are so thankful for good health and a strong little boy.
Funny things Hudson has said...
The other day we were riding in the car, just me and Hudson. He was asking a lot of questions about how the doctors were going to get the baby out. I gave him a vauge explaniation and he kept on asking. I told him we would talk more about it when he was older. Then he says, "Mom, look, it's just me and you here in the car. You can tell me. It's just me and you." I was so tickled and if your wondering...no, I didn't tell him!
We love our Hudson!

Alisia

So, maybe you noticed (or already knew) I AM PREGNANT!!!! We are expecting a little girl on September 26. So the last several months have consisted of me doing a lot of sleeping and being sick. I am 7 months pregnant now. (This picture was taken at Easter...I'm four months here) I have not been to fond of having any photos taken of me so I'll stick to what's been going on. And what I've been doing. I'll do another pregnancy post for you later on with all the details.

Other than the pregnancy I've been busy with my art. I was asked by a local coffee shop to do a month long display of my artwork. I was sick as a dog!!! But with the Lord's help I was able to pull it off and I even sold a piece! Here are some of the photos of my work hanging on the wall. I think my battery died before I could get shots of the rest of the work I had on display...

Mostly my days consist of me caring for the home and the children. I am finally feeling well enough that I have resumed most of my duties! Davin has been so wonderful to help me cook and clean and take care of the children, especially during the first few months.
I am currently reading "Beautiful in God's eyes" by Elizabeth George. It's an amazing book on the Proverbs 31 woman. I have learned so many practical applications and hopefully I can share some of those with you in the future. I am also re-reading 'Baby Wise"...it's been four years, and I need to brush up on my baby skills!
I have been privileged to teach private art lessons to two students in our community this summer. This is something that I really enjoy. I have also completed several projects for friends and family members over the last few months. It's fun to stay busy doing something you love!
I am still selling Mary Kay, even thought things have been slow. I love the flexibility and the products!

Currently I am preparing for our baby girl and getting ready to do the nursery/girls room. I have lots of ideas and just need the time and energy to get them all done!

Davin

My amazing Husband! Like I had mentioned earlier, we are very busy right now. Davin has been working at Regions bank for nearly two years! He was recently promoted to Assistant Branch Manager. We are so proud of him and how hard he has been working. He also has taken on a second job this summer at Roswell Street Baptist Church. This is the church where Davin was saved and baptized at age seven. He is working with the high school ministry this summer (while they are searching for a student pastor) and developing a strategic plan for accomplishing the Great Commission amongst their friends and neighbors.

Speaking of sharing, I would have to say that my husband is one of the most evangelistic people I know. He truly sees himself as God's ambassador wherever he goes. He has not been discouraged that he is not a full-time pastor. Instead he has been focused on doing the work of the ministry wherever he is. If we were all as intentional as Davin...we would see a world of difference in our culture. I know that I am challenged by his faithful walk with the Lord!

Davin has also been very busy helping me with the house work and spending time with the children. What a servant's heart he has. The first few months of my pregnancy were very hard for me. So that meant that Davin would work full-time during the day, then come home and fix dinner (or get us dinner) bathe the kids, and put them to bed...whew! I know he is glad to see me standing at the stove when he gets home!

So, glad that I got to fill you in on what is going on with Davin. What a fun opportunity for me to publicly brag on my amazing husband...

Check back, there is more to come!

I promise to do a better job!

I've been debating about whether or not to continue the blog. I am not much of a writer, and unless I have good pictures I don't feel like I have much to say. Even though there is so much going on with us right now!
However, I've decided to try and do a better job keeping up the blog. I absolutely love checking all my friends blogs and I feel so connected to them and what is going on in their lives. So, I pledge to do my best and try a couple of tricks to get posts up on a regular basis. We want you all to feel like you are a part of our lives. You are invited to come over and visit with us anytime you want...even if you are on the other side of the globe....

So much has been going on with us lately that I am going to do individual posts for each person in our family. Keep checking back with me! We want you to feel like you are welcome to join us on this journey of ours anytime you like.

Please feel free to leave a comment of things you find interesting or would like to know more about. That should help me get back into the swing of blogging!
