Naomi's 9month check-up

We took Naomi to the doctor yestarday and she 28 1/4 in. tall and weighs 17 lbs 4 oz. She is in the 75% for her height and 20% for her weight. Tall and thin. Who does that sound like?

My Strong-Willed Child

It's only been about 2 1/2 years late, but I am finally reading "The Strong-Willed child" by James Dobson. It is even more abundantly clear that Hudson is strong-willed. Let me illustrate with a story...

On Tuesday during nap time Hudson discovered that he can lock his door and Mommy can't get in. At first I had no idea he had even locked his door. I could hear him and Naomi (they share a room) laughing and playing. I thought it was sweet so I allowed it to go on for a few minutes. There is a rocking horse in their room, and he uses that to climb up and peek in on Naomi. Now that she can sit herself up, she sits up and peeks over the bumper pad at him. So, then it happens, I hear Hudson fall. I go to their room and discover that I can't get in. He comes and unlocks the door so that I can cuddle him. I try to explain to him that he cannot lock the door. It's not safe, and if he does it again he gets a spanking. Well for those of you who know Hudson, know that the game is on. I leave and before I know it he has locked the door and turned on the light. I tell him through the door that he needs to let Mommy in. No response. Again, "Let Mommy in or you will get a spanking." No response. So, I look around the house for something to unlock the door with. Evidently, they have created better technology since I was a girl. I used to be able to unlock any door with a coat hanger. Not so anymore. After several more attempts I still couldn't get in. So then using my last resort tactics I said, "Hudson, I have a sucker for you. You need to open the door so I can get in." And of course, he immediately comes to the door. Did he get a sucker? no. A spanking? yes. Don't worry, I apologized to Hudson and God for lying. I just didn't know what else to do. Did he try again on Wednesday to lock me out? You bet! Only this time he began losing his privileges like no TV. He soon realized that this was a game he didn't want to play anymore.

North Myrtle Beach

We were so blessed by Davin's parents when they invited us to come along with them to the Beach this year. They were celebrating their 30th Wedding Anniversary! We had so much fun, and we stayed at Ocean front golf and beach resort in North Myrtle Beach. The hotel was right on the beach and had a lazy river and an outdoor pool. We also had a great view of the pools and beach from our room.
Naomi got to see the Ocean for the first time. She also got to play in the sand. Here is Naomi after she tries to eat the sand. Needless to say that didn't happen again.

Naomi and Daddy in the Ocean.

Here is Hudson with Pop-Pop(Davin's Dad). Notice the yellow crocs, he got those while at the beach and he LOVES them. I think that's all he's worn since we've been home.

Here is Naomi and Mimi(Davin's Mom). Aren't they beautiful in green?

Hudson had a blast. He spent most of his days hanging out at the pool. He told us he was scared of the Ocean. (I don't blame him!) He didn't like having the sand stick to him and when he was at the beach he made several trips back up to the showers until he finally decided that he would stick to hanging out at the pool.
This is just a funny shot of Naomi with a star puff stuck on her face.
I think the best part of the trip for me was getting some fun time with Davin. We both had big inflatable tubes and we got out in the ocean and just played in the waves. It may seem silly, but we had a blast!

Summer 2007

I thought I would begin our blog by sharing some of our best moments from the summer! I hope you enjoy seeing our pictures and reading our stories.
Atlanta, Georgia!
There's no denying that we love going home. We were blessed enough for Davin to be out of school and off work for an entire week. We split up our time between grandparents and made so many fun memories. Here are a few...
Hudson's first boat ride!

Here is Hudson and his Mimi. This is Hudson's first real boat ride!
The Georgia Aquarium

What a treat to be able to go to the Georgia Aquarium two summers in a row.

Thank you Pop-pop and Mimi!

We had a wonderful time and I added some pictures of us last year, while I was pregnant with Naomi and this year with Naomi.

I promise Naomi is with us! If you look close you can see the top of her head in the stroller. Sorry Naomi!

Hudson drives at last!

Here we are at Gran's house.

Hudson takes his first spin in his power wheels jeep.

Here is Hudson and his cousin Lila. They aren't too sure about this power wheel thing, but thankfully their Dad's are on the scene!

Finally Kaitlyn, one of Hudson's other cousins, arrives and saves the day.

Father's Day

Here is Dad enjoying his home-made German Chocolate Cheesecake, before he opens his present!

Hudson and Naomi celebrating father's day!

Sticker Charts, Ice Cream Trucks, and a Ukulele

Here are some fun moments!

Here is Hudson proudly displaying his sticker chart. He has been potty training and worked all week to fill up his chart and earn a Dora the Explorer Van.

Hudson also had his first experience with the Ice Cream Truck. Thanks Gran and Grandaddy for this fun treat!

In case you want to know Hudson chose the hulk with gumball eyes! (yes, we removed the gumball eyes before he at his ice cream)

This is a fun shot of Naomi! She got a hold of Hudson's Ukulele.

Naomi's Baby Dedication

On Mother's Day we dedicated Naomi to the Lord. Our prayer for her is that she would love the Lord our God with all her heart, soul, mind, and strength. And that her life would be filled with the fruit of the spirit.

Here is one of the better "family" pictures we took at the Seminary after church that day. Notice how well Hudson is cooperating. (to his credit it was lunch time:)

North Carolina Zoo

North Carolina's Zoo is located in Asheboro and is one of the largest Zoo's in the Nation! It is a 5 mile walk, and if I had a guess I would say that Hudson walked about 3 miles that day.

This is my favorite picture from the whole trip! Hudson was so tired he slept through dinner.

Pullen Park

Pullen Park is in the heart of Raleigh. There are several play areas, boatrides, a train, and a carousel. We had a blast that day. Thanks Mimi and Pop-pop!

Here is Hudson on the kiddie boats.

Look close! There's Dad and Hudson in the window of a real caboose!

Here we are on the train!
